Western red cedar Rhombus 18x92mm

Important properties of Western Red Cedar Rhombus VW071

  • This profile is only available with Western Red Cedar wood.
  • The rhombus profile VW071 has the shape of a parallelogram (approx. 15 degrees). This diamond-shaped profile is suitable for open facade cladding. The longitudinal sides are slightly rounded to prevent splintering at the sharp corners.
  • Working width: 92 mm
  • The boards are sorted on one visible side, the rear may contain some scraping errors, tire marks and/or roller marks.
  • The production reserves the right to deviate a maximum of 3-4% from the head size, in order to be able to plan a nice, straight and dimensionally stable product. In addition, humidity can affect the head size (dry and warm weather causes shrinkage).
  • We supply wood at trade length. This means: not sawn square and not shortened to length, often with some excess length.
  • Dry cracks can be seen on the short sides. Always calculate at least 10 cm extra sawing loss in length.
  • Correct installation is very important. Good ventilation, sufficient framing and correct fastening are required. Before you start, read our mounting tips and instructions carefully!

EUTR: this product complies with the European Timber Regulation – 995/2010. This European regulation prohibits the marketing of illegally harvested wood. The party that first places the product on the European market has a duty of care to demonstrate that the product has not been illegally harvested or traded.

KD 18-20% Humidity

This product is machine dried back (kiln dried) to a moisture content that is in balance with the typical outdoor usage. Upon delivery, the product has a more or less elaborated shape and will mainly shrink or expand (provided assembling instructions are properly applied) depending on the weather conditions.

Nr.2Cl&Bt Grading:/h3>

Nr.2 Clear & Better is the highest possible grading of American softwoods, such as Western Red Cedar. This sorting only allows very limited small healthy knots, making this sorting virtually defect-free.

Western Red Cedar

Western Red Cedar is a popular type of wood. This type of wood starts out as Thuja plicata, also called the giant tree of life. This tree can reach extreme ages of up to 1000 years old. It is a dry type of wood that contains virtually no oil or greasy substances. The wood has a cinnamon-like scent, which prevents insects from nesting in the tree. The type of wood is also well resistant to various weather influences, whether it is extremely hot or cold.

Western Red Cedar is also called the cream of the crop when it comes to facade cladding. The type of wood is very lightweight and stable. The color of the wood can vary from chocolate brown to a light yellow appearance. Very special that all these different colors can come from one tribe.

  • lightweight and stable
  • Beautiful color shades and calm drawings
  • Durability class 2
  • Easily machined and manually processed
  • Very suitable for facade and wall cladding

Fastening Western Red Cedar can be done by using grooved nails. We recommend that you choose to use stainless steel nails. Do not use galvanized screws, these will create black spots and streaks on the wood over time.

Caution: Deep milling, longitudinal sawing or re-cutting can expose stresses. These stresses may have arisen during drying and processing. This is one of the reasons why we recommend adding 10% wood to your order. This way you can be sure that you have enough material to work with.

    What is a rhombus board?

A Western Red Cedar rhombus is a popular choice. It is a material that is popular to use untreated.
