Important properties of Siberian lorx rough sawn board

  • Rough sawn wood is wood that has been sawn from the trunk. It is therefore also known as sawn wood. Rough / sawn boards can have a size difference in thickness and width. It is best to use planed wood if the application requires a fixed size.
  • Sawn (raw) wood comes directly from our sawmill. This may cause painted markings on the wood.
  • We supply timber at trade length. This means: not sawn square and not shortened to length, often with some excess length.
  • Dry cracks can be seen on the headsides. Always calculate at least 10 cm extra saw loss in length.
  • Correct installation is very important. Good ventilation, sufficient framing and correct fastening are required. Before you start, read our mounting tips and -regulations carefully!

Sustainability:

EUTR: this product complies with the European Timber Regulation – 995/2010. This European regulation prohibits the marketing of illegally harvested wood. The party that first places the product on the European market has a duty of care to demonstrate that the product has not been illegally harvested or traded.

KD 18-20% Humidity

This product is machine dried back (kiln dried) to a moisture content that is in balance with the typical outdoor usage. Upon delivery, the product has a more or less elaborated shape and will mainly shrink or expand (provided assembling instructions are properly applied) depending on the weather conditions.

S/F Grade

This product is S/F sorted. This means a saw-falling grade in which the lowest class (extra) is sorted out. This grade is the most common for European and Russian coniferous wood.

Siberian Larch

Siberian Larch is a type of wood that comes from Russia. It is a popular and widely used wood species in Europe. It is straight and easy to process. Siberian Larch can be used in various outdoor projects and is affordable compared to tropical hardwood.

Compared to the European variant, Siberian Larch has smaller knots and a finer structure. This makes Siberian Larch the highest quality Larch wood species. Because these trees grow in a colder climate, the wood has a higher density and durability than European Larch. Façade cladding and wall cladding are popular applications, but the wood is also used as a decking or garden partition.

Siberian Larch originally has a warm golden-yellow hue, which will gray evenly over time. This is in contrast to European Larch, which is characterized by its salmon-pink colour. Especially the typical drawing of the wood provides the warm and charming appearance of these planks. The wood has small knots between 1 and 2 cm.

Advantages

  • Affordable
  • Easy to work
  • Durability class 3
  • Beautiful small flames
  • Suitable as facade cladding, wall cladding and decking

Siberian Larch is a type of wood that is easy to use to work. The planks and beams must be pre-drilled before bolting. In addition, we always advise to use stainless steel screws and fasteners, this prevents stains on the wood. We do not recommend gluing, because shrinkage stresses occur with this wood.

Note: Deep milling, sawing lengthwise or sawing again can expose stresses. These stresses may have arisen during drying and processing. This is one of the reasons why we recommend adding 10% wood to your order. This way you can be sure that you have enough material to work with.

    What are rough sawn boards?

Sawn Siberian lorx is also sometimes called fine sawn Siberian lorx or rough sawn Siberian lorx. It concerns machine-sawn wood without any post-processing. Sawn wood still has wood fibers on the surface and a robust appearance. Sawn Siberian lorx may contain imperfections on the surface, as well as slight variations in width or thickness. Sawn wood is not completely dimensionally stable and may not be completely square.
