Important properties of Louro gamela rough sawn board

  • Rough sawn wood is wood that has been sawn from the trunk. It is therefore also known as sawn wood. Rough / sawn boards can have a size difference in thickness and width. It is best to use planed wood if the application requires a fixed size.
  • Sawn (raw) wood comes directly from our sawmill. This may cause painted markings on the wood.
  • We supply timber at trade length. This means: not sawn square and not shortened to length, often with some excess length.
  • Dry cracks can be seen on the headsides. Always calculate at least 10 cm extra saw loss in length.
  • Correct installation is very important. Good ventilation, sufficient framing and correct fastening are required. Before you start, read our mounting tips and -regulations carefully!


Certification/h3>

This product is FSC 100% certified. The origin of FSC wood meets global standards for sustainable forest management. The forest will remain. Trees only disappear if they can be missed.


KD 18-20% Humidity

This product is machine dried back (kiln dried) to a moisture content that is in balance with the typical outdoor usage. Upon delivery, the product has a more or less elaborated shape and will mainly shrink or expand (provided assembling instructions are properly applied) depending on the weather conditions.


FAS Grade

This product is sorted according to the FAS (First and Second) grade. This is the most common and also the highest grade of (tropical) hardwood. With this grading, at least 83.3% of the wood is free from defects, small defects can occur over the remaining part. For complete defect-free processing, this product must be assembled saw-falling.


Louro Gamela

Louro Gamela is a type of wood from South America and it has a beige to yellowish color. When this type of wood has dried back, important characteristics are stability and durability. Due to the attractive color and uniform appearance, the wood is very popular as facade cladding or wall cladding. In addition, it can also be used as a material for a fence, gate, decking or as garden furniture.

This type of wood is ideal for facade cladding or wall cladding. Because it is a relatively lightweight type of wood, it is very suitable for facade cladding. The natural durability and high strength of this type of wood guarantee a long service life of the material. That is why it is also very suitable as a decking or decking board.

Louro Gamela's wire is straight, but cross-wire or sometimes a tangled bearing is also present. A moderately coarse grain and a typical smell characterize the wood. This smell disappears after some time has passed.

Louro Gamela has a dulling effect on tools. We therefore recommend the use of carbide tools. In addition, the wood must be pre-drilled. We also always advise to use stainless steel screws and fasteners, this prevents stains on the wood. When Louro Gamela has dried sufficiently, the wood can be glued perfectly.

Note: Deep milling, sawing lengthwise or sawing again can expose tensions. These stresses may have arisen during drying and processing. This is one of the reasons why we recommend adding 10% wood to your order. This way you can be sure that you have enough material to work with.

What are rough sawn boards?

Sawn Louro gamela is also sometimes called fine sawn Louro gamela or rough sawn Louro gamela. It concerns machine-sawn wood without any post-processing. Sawn wood still has wood fibers on the surface and a robust appearance. Sawn Louro gamela may contain imperfections on the surface, as well as slight variations in width or thickness. Sawn wood is not completely dimensionally stable and may not be completely square.
