EUTR: this product complies with the European Timber Regulation – 995/2010. This European regulation prohibits the marketing of illegally harvested wood. The party that first places the product on the European market has a duty of care to demonstrate that the product has not been illegally harvested or traded.
This product is machine dried back (kiln dried) to a moisture content that is in balance with the typical outdoor usage. Upon delivery, the product has a more or less elaborated shape and will mainly shrink or expand (provided assembling instructions are properly applied) depending on the weather conditions.
This product is sorted according to the FAS (First and Second) grade. This is the most common and also the highest grade of (tropical) hardwood. With this grading, at least 83.3% of the wood is free from defects, small defects can occur over the remaining part. For complete defect-free processing, this product must be assembled saw-falling.
Aphrormosia comes from West Africa and has a yellowish brown to dark brown color that is similar to Teak wood. It is a durable type of wood that is very strong. It is a very stable type of wood that forms a good basis for various applications of luxury outdoor projects. The drawings and beautiful flames give the wood a natural and luxurious look.
Afrormosia is a wood that is suitable for many different applications. It is not for nothing that the wood is also called African Teak wood. However, the Afrormosia wood is not as oily as Teak, but these woods do have strength and durability in common. The chance of cracks and splintering is small with Afrormosia. Afrormosia wood ages in a beautiful natural way.
The straight wood can be worked well both by machine and by hand. It is also resistant to acids and chemicals, a fairly unique property. Afrormosia is a sustainable type of wood with many positive properties.
Afrormosia should always be attached with stainless steel screws. It is necessary to pre-drill this type of wood. Do not use galvanized screws, these will cause black spots and streaks on the wood over time.
Caution: Deep milling, longitudinal sawing or re-cutting can expose stresses. These stresses may have arisen during drying and processing. This is one of the reasons why we recommend adding 10% wood to your order. This way you can be sure that you have enough material to work with.
